SUMMARY:College Fair & Workshop for Students with Disabilities
DESCRIPTION:Considering post-secondary education?  \nThe Iowa Quad City College Program will host its annual College Fair on Columbus Day\, Monday\, October 13\, 2014\, from 5-7:30 p.m. in the Rogalski Center. \nThe fair allows local families to meet representatives from colleges and universities located throughout the United States\, and to speak with them about admissions information and scholarship opportunities. Typically about 100 colleges and universities are in attendance each year. \nThe local Transition Advisory Board will also be hosting a workshop in conjunction with the college fair addressing issues for students with disabilities considering post-secondary education. \nThe Students with Disabilities Workshop will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Rogalski Center\, 2nd Floor\, Gottlieb Conference Center. \nIf you have any questions about the workshop please contact Jane Rock at Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency at 563/344-6288

SUMMARY:45th National Autism Society Conference and Exposition
DESCRIPTION:This is a three-day event filled with speakers\, sessions\, vendors! \nPlease join us on Thursday\, July 24 at 8:30 -10:00 am for the Opening General Session and Temple Grandin’s keynote address. \nGeneral conference registration includes access to the Exhibit Hall\, Keynote Sessions\, and breakout sessions. General conference registration also includes online access to all conference session recordings after the conference. A preconference workshop can be added to a general conference registration for an additional fee. \nPreconference Workshop Registration: Preconference Workshops are held on Wednesday\, July 23. Preconference Workshops are optional and are not included in the general conference registration. \nRates are reduced for persons on the spectrum\, $150.  These rate apply until July 16th.

DESCRIPTION:Join with a community of educators\, families\, individuals with and without disabilities\, support personnel\, and researchers for two days of presentations\, discussions\, panels\, hands-on learning\, and networking across the Midwest. \nThe Midwest Summer Institute will focus on (a) Inclusive schools\, employment\, and daily living and (b) Communication and supported or facilitated typing for people with autism spectrum disabilities and other complex communication needs. \nNationally recognized and area experts on school and community inclusion and alternative communication supports will join us for the two days.  Featured presenters among several include  Kathie Snow of Disability is Natural\, Darlene Hanson\, Director of Communication Supports at WAPADH (Whittier\, CA)\, and Tracy Thresher\, self-advocate featured in the award winning documentary Wretches & Jabberers. \n$175 for early registration by MAY 14th.
