DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, June 8 from 2-4pm – Jester Park\, Shelter #5 by Discovery Pond \nIndividuals on the autism spectrum often have issues with sensory processing which sometimes lead to anxiety. The practice of Shinrin Yoku\, or Japanese forest bathing\, is a slow\, mindful walk in nature that invites participants to use their senses in a calming\, quieting way. Benefits may include improved sleep\, reduced anxiety and enhanced communication. Join Dr. Suzanne Bartlett Hackenmiller\, Integrative Medicine physician and the mother of a son with autism\, in the naturally healing environment of Jester Park. Breathe\, relax\, see\, listen\, touch\, smell\, taste\, share and engage. \nDr. Suzanne Bartlett Hackenmiller and Polk County Conservation\, Naturalist Lori Foresman- Kirpes will be hosting a sensory nature hike for those with autism\, their families\, and caregivers on Thursday\, June 8 from 2-4pm at Jester Park\, Shelter #5 by Discovery Pond. \nSpace is limited.
