DESCRIPTION: Our goal is to increase awareness of autism and to support families and children affected by autism. It’s time to treat them like royalty! Proceeds from the Royal Ball Run and Royal Ball for All will stay local – and will support local program dedicated to autism treatment and awareness in the Quad Cities – Iowa and Illinois. \nOn Friday June 20th\, it is the Royal Ball for All.  This is a family friendly event and packet pick-up for the race from 4:30 pm – 8:30 pm with a special “sensory-free” hour from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm \nCost: Free \nWhere: Milan Community Center\, Milan\, IL \nAttire: All little princes and princesses are encouraged to dress for a royal ball! \nJoin us for a unique family event featuring royal games\, treats\, prizes\, contests and fun including some of your favorite prince and princess characters! \nIncludes a $3 & $5 Meal Deal\, royal-themed games\, raffles\, bounce houses\, a silent auction\, Royal Ball dance\, Plus much more! \nNEW FOR 2014: The 1/4 mile Prince and Princess Fun Run will now be held during the Royal Ball for All at 6:30 pm. SUMMARY:2014 Midwest Summer Institute: Inclusion & Communication for All
DESCRIPTION:Join with a community of educators\, families\, individuals with and without disabilities\, support personnel\, and researchers for two days of presentations\, discussions\, panels\, hands-on learning\, and networking across the Midwest. \nThe Midwest Summer Institute will focus on (a) Inclusive schools\, employment\, and daily living and (b) Communication and supported or facilitated typing for people with autism spectrum disabilities and other complex communication needs. \nNationally recognized and area experts on school and community inclusion and alternative communication supports will join us for the two days.  Featured presenters among several include  Kathie Snow of Disability is Natural\, Darlene Hanson\, Director of Communication Supports at WAPADH (Whittier\, CA)\, and Tracy Thresher\, self-advocate featured in the award winning documentary Wretches & Jabberers. \n$175 for early registration by MAY 14th.
