The practice of Shinrin Yoku\, or Japanese forest bathing\, is a slow\, mindful walk in nature that invites participants to use their senses in a calming\, quieting way. Benefits may include improved sleep\, reduced anxiety and enhanced communication. Join Dr. Suzanne Bartlett Hackenmiller\, Integrative Medicine physician and the mother of a son with autism\, in the naturally healing environment of Jester Park. She is also the parent of two young adults\, both of whom are significantly affected by autism\, and the President and Co-founder of The Village Community\, a 501c3 disability service provider located in Johnson County\, which works to provide a cooperative model of learning and working for young adults with developmental disabilities.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a designated sensory room\, light and sound reduction when possible\, bouncy houses in our youth gym and additional activities. The Easter Seals of Iowa will have a variety of sensory friendly toys available for use. The Animal Rescue League of Iowa will have TheraPets present. \nThis event is free and open to the public.
