Robert and Clarice Burkgren Honorable Scholarship

APPLICATIONS ARE NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED FOR 2025.

PLEASE CHECK BACK AT THE BEGINNING OF 2026 WHEN WE REOPEN THE APPLICATION PERIOD.

This scholarship is for an existing college student who is a junior, senior, or graduate student in a college in Iowa and majoring in a field of study to assist those with Autism upon graduation. The student may also be working in a field of study helping those with Autism while obtaining an advanced degree. One student will be selected for this scholarship. The scholarship is a one-time award of up to $500.


Please send the following for this scholarship:

  1. A cover page with the name of the applicant, address, phone number, and e-mail address
  2. College Transcripts
  3. Documentation of acceptance into an accredited, post-secondary educational, or vocational program of study
  4. Two letters of reference
  5. Personal statement, of no more than 500 words, with attention to the following questions:
    a. Describe your anticipated field of study.
    b. Describe how this field of study will assist those with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
    c. Describe your experiences with people with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
