Josephine Gittler Honorable Scholarship

APPLICATIONS ARE NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED FOR 2025.
PLEASE CHECK BACK AT THE BEGINNING OF 2026 WHEN WE REOPEN THE APPLICATION PERIOD.
This scholarship is for a student with Autism attending the University of Iowa College of Law or an Advocate in Training. One scholarship will be given for this scholarship up to $1,000.
Please send the following for this scholarship if you are applying as a law student with Autism:
1. A cover page with the name of the applicant, address, phone number and email address
2.Document of acceptance into the University of Iowa Law School
3.Two current letters of reference
4.Personal statement, of no more than 1000 words, with attention to the following questions:
a. How has the diagnosis impacted your education?
b. How do you believe your Autism provides unique perspective in the classroom and in the community?
c. How do you plan to leverage your unique talents, qualities, and inherent gifts to help progress the legal profession forward–perhaps just by being at the boardroom table or by actively providing counsel to those with disabilities?
Please send the following for this scholarship if you are applying as a law student who does advocacy work for those with Autism:
1.A cover page with the name of the applicant, address, phone number and email address
2.Document of acceptance into the University of Iowa Law School
3.Two letters of reference
4.Personal statement, of no more than 1000 words, with attention to the following questions:
a. Describe how interacting with autistic people has shaped your life up to this point.
b. Describe how you have advocated for or otherwise assisted those with Autism in the past. Describe what you plan to do in the future vis-a-vis more advocacy. How will these funds get you closer to that goal?
c. Describe why you are the best fit for this scholarship.
