“Toilet Training: Tips, Tricks, and Evidence-Based Implementation”

Objectives:

  1. List the pre-requisite skills to evaluate prior to implementing toilet training.
  2. Recall toilet training implementation strategies to increase success.
  3. Identify evidence-based practices within toilet training research.
  4. Understand some specific intervention techniques offered at ChildServe through the Bowel and Bladder Program.

 

Presenters:

Maggie Barsetti

Maggie Barsetti graduated from Creighton University’s occupational therapy program in 2018, and she has worked at ChildServe as an occupational therapist since then. She works primarily with children in ChildServe’s Autism Day Program and ABA program. Maggie also works to help coordinate all group for children, teens, and adults who receive therapies at ChildServe. Maggie is certified in the Project ImPACT coaching curriculum and enjoys using this training to work with young children and their families to work on goals related to play and communication.

 

Samantha Cermak

 

 

 

 

 


Suzanne K. Richards, PhD is a child and adolescent psychologist at Childserve in Johnston, Iowa, specializing in the assessment of autism and intervention with individuals with complex medical, psychological, social, and behavioral conditions related to autism. She graduated from The University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 2007 and has extensive clinical experience providing mental health therapy services and assessments in a wide range of settings. In her clinical practice, she is passionate about children with learning nd social skill challenges. Suzanne has been involved in clinical education and research on multiple topics including trauma, behavioral challenges, medical correlates to behavior, and social skills. Suzanne has served many children, adolescents, and their families with behavioral and family systems concerns, in addition to major mental illnesses and neurodevelopmental disorders. She also consults with and advises schools, treatment, and training programs concerning appropriate interventions. Dr. Richards is skilled in developing and evaluating treatment and is dedicated to training students to serve future generations of children.
